Since May 24, 2011, every Tuesday here has been all about you. The Why I Run series has its genesis in my interest in the stories my running buddies told me. The common denominator is running, but the reasons are as varied as snowflakes. Everyone has a story to tell about why we pull on our shoes, our goofy shorts, grab our gel packs and our water belts and hit the pavement. In sweltering heat. In bone breaking cold. We run. Why? Sometimes we ask ourselves that question while we’re out running. But, here, we tell the reasons, the real reasons: cancer, depression, fitness, fun, challenge. The fun part is, every reason is valid. We have found our Why.

If you want to share your Why I Run story, send me an email (email@example.com) with a few sentences about yourself and about your reasons. Many of the contributors have hemmed and hawed, saying, “But, I’m not a writer.” It’s all good; I have found that readers respond to honesty,, so I don’t spend a lot of time editing posts. I want you to be you.
I’ve even hosted stories about Why I Don’t Run, so if you walk, bike or swim, I will consider your story.
